Property Masters’ Privacy Policy

The Property Masters’ Privacy Policy is as important to us as it is to you. We feel privacy is fundamental to protecting an individual’s rights to life, liberty, and their pursuit of happiness… the American Dream! With that in mind, we work hard to protect your privacy.

Who we are

Property Masters is a private investment organization focused on solving real estate problems. We are not realtors, but we are a very special and unique team of investors. Our websites include this one, PropertyMasters.US, as well as these:

The personal data we collect and why we collect it

Our practice is to collect the least amount of personal data as possible about our visitors, but some data collection is necessary for us to do business with you, as described below.

Comments

We collect the data shown the Comments submission form. We also collect the commenter’s IP address and browser user agent string*, because these help with spam detection.

You must provide your email address when submitting a comment. When this is done, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service, from Automattic, to see if you are using it. See Automattic’s privacy policy for their details.

All comments must be approved by the site administrator to prevent spam. After approval and if you choose to add a picture to your profile, then that picture will be data we’ve collected and is visible to the public adjacent to your comments. That picture is also visible to the system administrator.

Media

Before uploading images to this website, PLEASE make sure you’ve removed any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). This is because visitors to the website can download your image and extract any location data from it. We have no way of preventing this if your location data was in your image.

Contact forms

When you submit a Contact Us form, we collect the information you submit on it.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. When you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you you have permission and choose to edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA) to better understand the traffic to our website and how people use our website once they’re here. The information our website shares with GA is essential to that business need. Detailed information about Google’s of data for analytic purposes can be found on the Google Analytics Safeguarding your data help page.

To summarize it, GA mainly uses first-party cookies to report your interactions on our websites. This includes things like which pages you visited and how long you stayed. It also collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to provide and protect the security of the GA service, and to give website owners like us a sense of which country, state, or city in the world you, our users, come from. This is also known as “IP geolocation”.

We never see any user name. We can only see counts of how many people visited our site from day to day, what country they appeared to be from (based on IP geolocation), which pages they visited, how long the stayed.

Some options you might prefer:

  • You may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie; learn more from Google.
  • You may disable Google Analytics from doing it’s job by using an optional browser add-on. Once installed and enabled, it disables measurement by Google Analytics for any site you visit. Note it only disables Google Analytics measurement.

Who we share your data with

If you have an account on our site and request a password reset, the IP address of your computer will be shared with you in the reset email sent from our site.

We do not sell or share our membership list. Period. We may contact you for our business purposes, such as properties for sale or information about properties we want to buy. We may also share information as required by law or to service our business transactions with you (e.g. title agents, real estate attorneys, partner investors, etc.) and work hard to limit the shared information to the least amount required.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For those with permission to register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. These users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can see and edit that information; they can also change your password if you need their help, but they cannot access your current password.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. As mentioned earlier, a password reset will result in the IP address of the person who requested the reset to be collected and then included in the password reset email. This process is intended to be a benefit to you in case someone else was trying to reset your password.

Additional information

How we protect your data

This website uses strong SHA-2 and 2048-bit encryption for all Internet activity (browsing, commenting, etc.).

The site content uses hosting services from GoDaddy. They follow generally accepted standards to store and protect data both during transmission and once received and stored. We retain your data information only for as long as necessary to support your interactions with us (e.g. your account information to log into the member only area of this site) and thereafter for a variety of legitimate legal or business purposes. These might include retention periods:

  • mandated by law, contract or similar obligations applicable to our business operations;
  • for preserving, resolving, defending or enforcing our legal/contractual rights; or
  • needed to maintain adequate and accurate business and financial records.

What happens if a breach occurs

You will be notified immediately at the email address we have on file for you. We may also call you if we know your telephone number or send you a letter if we have your mailing address.

What third parties we receive data from

We receive information from County Assessors, equivalent agencies, and their data providers for properties in which we have an equity stake or are targeting for acquisition. We may also receive information from credit bureaus, title companies, real estate attorneys, note owners, and other investors/partners.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Short of sorting or filtering lists for targeted messages and similar business activities, there is no automated decision making or profiling performed with user data we collect.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

No members of this organization are licensed real estate agents or brokers.

I still have questions

If you have additional questions about our Property Masters Privacy Policy, reach out to us by postal mail, telephone, or using the form on our Contact Us page.
